Good news after our weekend vacation...

ok so I've really been a slacker with this blogging thing. Two months ago was my last blog post and we've done so much since then. I hope I can remember everything!

First, (well I'm sure some things I would have liked to have blogged about happened before our Missouri trip, but I can't remember. So we'll just start with our little vacation) our little family took a little vacation to Missouri at the end of July. We were originally supposed to go in March for the Moe family reunion, but things didn't work out and we had to switch our already bought tickets for the end of July. My family puts on a festival called Island Friday every year and ever since I got married, I have never been able to make it back to one for one reason or another and I was sooooo happy I was able to attend this year!!
We flew out Wednesday night and got in around 1 in the morning. Once we stepped off that flight, I knew I was home when we felt the humidity. HOME SWEET HOME!! The boys did really good on the flight and it helped that Uncle Ares (Zeus's youngest brother) came with us. We caught up with family a little bit before we went to bed. Because Island Friday was on Friday and Saturday, we had all day Thursday to do everything we wanted around the city. Zeus wanted to go to a basketball museum, called the Basketball Experience, in Kansas City that I didn't even know was there. It was heaven to a basketball player. If we didn't have to meet up with some close cousins for lunch we would have stayed there all day. It had 3 on 3 basketball courts, stations to see how many shots you can make in under a minute (3 point, free throw, dunks), an area where you can measure your wingspan and vertical, watch yourself do an ESPN newscast, and even a little basketball area for little toddlers to play in. It had another floor for the collegiate hall of fame. It.was.nice. After two hours there, we met up with our cousins down the street at Gates BBQ. Kansas City is famous for its bbq but we were never able to try any of the restaurants we always hear about. I'm not gonna lie, it was good!
On to the festival. This year was the 2nd Annual Tahitian and Fireknife Dance Competition and also the We Are Samoa Competition between a couple of the high schools in Independence. Friday night I watched the cutest little girls do their solos and even boys as young as 2 years old participate in the Fire knife competition. Of course no fire on their knives. Saturday was the We Are Samoa competition and the schools did soooo good! The only bad thing about the whole weekend was how HOT and HUMID it was. If it wasn't for the free waterpark at the park the festival was held, everyone would have been MISERABLE. But despite the horrible weather, we enjoyed our time with my family and we were sad we had to leave after only a few days but Zeus had to get back to work and we had to prepare for our trip to Utah the very next weekend for a wedding.
That weekend we spent in Missouri reminded me just how much I miss my family. But as long as I come back to visit every once in awhile, I should be fine...right?? Yeah, I'll keept telling myself that!!
The Monday we returned to Vegas was also my drs appointment and the ultrasound that was going to tell what the gender of our baby is. Instead of leaving the boys at gramma's like we do during all my appointments, we took them. I like having them in the room to hug and to hold after finding out what baby is...that's what I did when I found out what Waylon was. We got to my appointment and I was so anxious to hurry up and find out! I think the tech was getting irritated with me because when we were looking at baby, I didn't see a boy's peepee so I said, "Yay!! It's a girl! It's a girl, isn't it?!" and I kept saying it. She said, "Hold on, I can't get a good picture yet." Boo the tech! Deep down, even before the appointment I already knew it was a girl. lol. And sure enough, IT'S A GIRL!! Zeus asked the lady to make sure. haha.
What's a better way to end off a great weekend vacation than to find out I'm finally having a girl?! The only problem is...we had a boy name picked out, not a girl's. So here we are trying to think of girl names. holy hard. and no we are not going with W for our girls. lol. WISH US LUCK that we can decide on a girl's name. together. PEACEFULLY. oh brother.
