Shoulda Coulda Woulda

Yesterday, cousins Nakana and Uilani came down to visit us for a few hours. It was soo nice to see them since I haven't seen them since Hawaii in March. Plus, it's always nice to see your own family every once in awhile. :)

They brought a video of my graduation and graduation party...that I now wish I hadn't watched last night for a number of reasons.

First, just seeing how young I was (not to mention tan and thin) and ready to live life! Looking back, I can't say I had a lot of goals then. Mostly explore and learn things about myself that I didn't already know (which was a LOT. And I'm still learning).

Second, we were creating memories that we will always look back on and wish things never changed. There's a part in the video where all the Allen sisters (my mom and her two sisters), gramma Allen, cousin Kekui, and myself performed a routine to one of Auntie Kathy's songs. Also on the video gramma Allen performed the most beautiful hula. Everyone was happy and HEALTHY.
Today, however, it's such a different story. One of the Allen sisters is deceased along with one of my cousins; and last week we found out gramma is not doing too good. :(
A lot of change is to be expected within seven years, but I would have NEVER thought of the deaths of two close family members.

Third, friendships lost. Of course people lose contact after high school. What I'm talking about, is the WAY they were lost. I wish I could've handled a lot of things different back then. IF ONLY I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW.

And finally, fourth, what I've done with my life. When I think back the last seven years, I could have honestly fell asleep after high school graduation, wake up now and everything would be the same. Well, except for a husband, three kids, and living in Vegas. I guess I could be leaving A LOT out. Like, the experiences I've gone through that made me the person I am today. I have a few regrets I wish I could go back and redo. But I always rethink my feelings when I read this quote:

"HAVE NO REGRETS. BECAUSE AT ONE POINT IT WAS EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED."

Which is sooo true. I can't disagree because everything WAS exactly what I wanted at that time...which makes me look soo dumb. Lol no for real.

I know I've written in a couple posts about a new beginning. Now that I've accomplished goals I've set for myself in order to begin, I can finally say that I am starting a new chapter in life. The last chapter seemed so drawn out without end!! Lol

Anyway, I've accomplished the goal of finding a part time job that works PERFECT for our schedule. AND the goal of getting my school stuff in order. I am officially a student at the Community College of Southern Nevada and am so blessed to have been offered financial aid that will pay for EVERYTHING when I become a FULL TIME student in January. :) :)

Everytime I heard things about short term and long term goals, what I REALLY heard was BLAH BLAH BLAH. But it's true! Lol I now realize that making short term goals eventually lead to accomplishing long term goals. All I need to do now is pass all my classes I'm taking next semester.

So here goes to FINALLY and OFFICIALLY starting a new chapter in life!!
