November pt. 2

Thanksgiving day-

Like all other holidays, Thanksgiving was just another excuse for me to overeat. :/ I ate soooooo much! And not just Thursday. I ate all weekend. We had Thanksgiving dinner at Zeus's parents'. We got there at 6:30 and stayed until after midnight. The boys were having fun dancing with everyone playing on the Wii and of course Zeus was glued to the game on TV. What's new?? Haha.

Friday-

I've only been Black Friday shopping twice and both times I hated it. I am not one who is patient enough to stand in long lines and get very vicious when one too many people bump in to me WITHOUT apologizing. I understand you're trying to get somewhere but so am I and everyone else and I find it hard to believe that it's so difficult to be polite!! Anyway, even though the last couple of Black Friday experiences I've had were bad, if I had extra money to spend, I would have shopped! There are a few things I really wanted to get for baby while the prices were so good...as well as for the boys' Christmas.
So...I didn't get to shop, but Zeus insisted on taking me to an early movie on Friday since it has been forever since we went out on a date. He knows I love the Twilight books and wanted to take me to see Breaking Dawn. I honestly wouldn't have minded waiting until the movie came out on Redbox because I was a little hesitant to drop Worthy off at the in laws with nobody really knowing how to give him his shots. But we went anyway planning on going straight there and straight back and it ended up great because all Worthy wanted to eat was the turkey from the night before which he can eat all day and not have to get an insulin shot. The movie was soo good!! I wasn't really expecting much because I expected a little too much when the first movie came out and was VERY disappointed! But this one was good...great! :) I really hope the last movie is the best one because Breaking Dawn is my favorite book out of them all.
It felt really good to finally spend a little alone time with Zeus since we don't get to do it too often. To me, it actually kind of felt a little like we were expecting our first baby again and knew it'd be a little while before being able to go out on our own. And with that feeling, it made our together time that much more meaningful, even if it only lasted a couple hours.

Saturday-

I'd been anxiously waiting for JoAnn's to have its Black Friday weekend sale on its fabrics so I can finally get started on a couple projects I wanted to do before baby comes. Zeus worked the AM shift on Saturday so I had to wait until he got home to go shopping. The wait for the cutting of the material wasn't as bad as I thought. When I got there I went straight to the counter and pulled a number. I was 61 and they were in the 30s so I had plenty of time to look around for what I wanted. I ended up only having to wait an hour which was perfect because by the time they called my number I had only been waiting a total of 5 minutes. Yes it took me almost an hour to finally decide on what I wanted!
I only bought 3 pieces of material but got a great deal on them! The fleece, originally $9/yd was on sale for $2.99/yd. In the cart I happened to grab, was their little ad catalog for that weekend and I found a 50% off coupon in it. So I used it to buy flannel that wasn't on sale and got it for $3/yd. The fabric wasn't really on sale...only $2 off the original price but I loved it and didn't want to put it back so I paid $6/yd for it. If I had to pay the original price of $8/yd, I would have had to settle for something else so even that $2 off was a little help since I needed 3 yards. (nobody probably wanted to know that but I want to remember that even though shopping after Thanksgiving is a pain, I'll have saved a lot of money!)

And...voila!!!

Here is the car seat blanket I've been dying to make. No hassle of trying to tuck a blanket in on baby after buckling her in only to have it fall out or drag on the ground. All I have to do is put her in and cover her!

And here is a matching carseat cover that also converts into a nursing blanket. There's a strap I made that can Velcro on to the straps holding the cover to the handle.

The best thing about the car seat blanket and car seat cover is that it eliminates 2 extra blankets I need to carry with me in the baby bag. And that saves soooo much room!! With Waylon's diapers and extra clothes and Worthy's diabetes supplies and snacks...add on all the things I'll now have to carry for baby, which really isn't a lot because I'll be breastfeeding...but still! I'll still need a bigger bag (which I'll hint to Santa Zeus) but even without 2 extra blankets in the bag will make it seem like I have a lot less clutter. Oh I'm so happy!!

Sunday-

We had planned on setting our Christmas tree up but when I woke up, I was feeling HORRIBLE!! Come to find out, there was a bug going around and almost everybody at Zeus's parents' house caught it as well. So I slept and rested all day while Zeus took care of our boys.

Monday-

I was still feeling sick and was sooo happy Zeus was off. He wanted to take the boys out so he took them to lunch at Cici's and I had some quiet time. Right after, he took them to Burger King so they could play in the play place. I had a good three hours of quiet rest before they came home. Zeus must have worn them out because they knocked out a little after getting settled in! Hahaha I love my husband!!!

Tuesday-

I felt almost back to normal. When I woke up I didn't feel sick at all and was anxious to get back to cleaning and organizing the house. But as soon as I started, I was out of breath! It was probably a mix of sleeping the last two days and baby pushing up against my lungs. She is getting quite fidgety in there!! I had shortness of breath almost all day. And it didn't help that the boys decided to be extra hard headed the day Zeus went back to work. Anyway, we finally got our tree set up! And of course just like last year, the top half of the tree is full of ornaments while the bottom half is naked of them. I'm sure there will be plenty more years of our tree's half nakedness before we can finally decorate the whole thing without the babies touching it. But nonetheless, it brings a little Christmas spirit in our home. :)

Wednesday (today)-

Finally the football banquet was tonight. Zeus coached the JV Special teams and had the opportunity to present the MVP Special Teams award. I am soooo proud of him!! And even more that he is able to coach the JV basketball team as well this year. It's just him and the head JV coach coaching the team. Earlier this week the coach asked Zeus if he could run practice on his own today because he was going to be late, and probably most of next week as well. So Zeus got a little taste of coaching a team all on his own...and absolutely LOVED it!! I'm so happy for him!!
Recently he was offered full-time Monday through Saturday mornings which is such a blessing! Now he has a set schedule and we don't have to worry about him not getting all his hours in for the week (plus he now has health insurance and PTO). AND it works perfect with the basketball schedule. Right after work he goes straight to practice that only lasts a couple hours. We don't get to see him all day until he gets home a little after 6 pm. We're used to it but all the time spent away from us makes our FHE Mondays so much more special! Especially since he's off Mondays except for when he leaves for practice for a couple hours.

Even though it has been over a month since we've attended church because ONE of us was sick whether it was Zeus, me, Worthy, or Waylon (and yes, it was weird that we ALL got sick within the last month with different things), Heavenly Father still has us in mind and continues to pour upon us soo many blessings! We are far from perfect and have a lot to improve and strive for, but we feel His love nonetheless.

Christmas is almost here! I can't help but think Christmas was made to come right before the New Year for a reason. In the midst of remembering the whole purpose of Christmas, maybe we should set our new year's resolutions along the lines of improving our spirituality more than focusing on the things of this world. Ok so I speak for myself on this because I know I can do so much better than what I've been doing. I've totally slacked the last part of this year and know there are blessings my family has missed out on because of it. :( So all month I will be reminded of things I need to work on and hopefully Zeus and I will get our resolutions set for next year. Start off brand new and looking out together as one, working toward it as one, moving forward as one.

I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!!!
