November pt. 1

It has been almost three weeks since we were released from the hospital. We stayed a total of five days admitted in ICU. It was the longest five days of my life. From the shock of Worthy's life changing news, to being educated about it, to long nights my family spent apart...by the time we left I was so ready to have my family back home together again.

Daddy and Worthy. Worthy still not feeling too well.

The day Worthy started to feel better and was up to reading a book.

Sunday, the day they finally unhooked him from the IV and was able to eat. He was so hungry; the last time he ate was the Wednesday prior. The kitchen made a mistake and sent up the regular meal which was the meatloaf along with the meal we ordered, the cheeseburger and fries. Of course he went for the fries first!!

Monday (Halloween) the nurses set up a table in the playroom of the pediatric ICU with paint and different things to decorate pumpkins with. I was so happy Worthy wanted to participate as much as I wanted him to. I didn't get a picture but he was cute painting his little pumpkin. A few weeks before we found out he had diabetes, I made him and Waylon costumes. Luckily I caught a few shots of them.

My Thing 1 and Thing 2.

I bought blue hairspray for their hair. I was a little disappointed the boys didn't get to trick or treat ESPECIALLY since Worthy was cleared to leave the day of Halloween. They wanted to keep us to make sure Zeus and I were well educated about diabetes and our new daily routine.
We were finally released Tuesday afternoon and I was soooooo happy to have my family back together at home!! Although I know Waylon was in good hands at my in laws, I still hated not being with him all weekend. I realized how much I take my time spent with the babies for granted. I can't imagine having to leave them for several hours every day to go to work. It has become normal for me now to be dependent on another to support our family rather than it being all me...which was so hard to adjust to at first. But I wouldn't want to be anywhere else than at home with the babies especially now with Worthy's diabetes.
Almost three weeks have passed and we're still adjusting to the daily pokes and shots. Worthy is doing so well with it. He knows he needs to check his blood sugar before every meal and snack and isn't afraid of getting shots anymore. We bought him a chart and stickers as a reward for him so every time he gets a shot, he can pick a sticker and put it on the chart. He loves it!! I guess it has become normal for him, everything. But for some reason it's taking longer for me to realize this is what "normal" is from now on...kind of like when you take baby in to the doctor because he's sick and they prescribe an antibiotic and tell you to give it to him until it's gone, and usually it lasts about 10 days. So my mind set is that eventually we'll be able to stop with this medication...but in reality, it doesn't last only 10 days, it lasts for a lifetime. Maybe the reason why I'm thinking like that is because it's just so new to me. I'm not sure how long it'll take for everything to finally settle in this brain of mine, but I'm just happy that Worthy doesn't seem to be having a hard time with it. My baby...

Anyway, onto other things. My in laws threw a baby shower for me last weekend and my mom flew in for it. I was a little sad she came by herself, I was hoping she'd bring my little sister along. But I really loved my mommy time with her. :) And she enjoyed her grandbaby time with Worthy and Waylon all weekend. The baby shower was PERFECT!! It was basically just family which is what I loved about it. I'll post pictures once I copy them off Zeus's Facebook, since I deactivated mine.
While Mom was here, we did some shopping for baby. A little bit of clothes, a couple of bookshelves for all her things, and curtains for the wall her bed will be up against. Yes I said curtains!! Well...ok not curtains, but we bought material that was 50% off at JoAnn's because it was Veterans Day weekend, and made them into curtains. It turned out SO GREAT!! We only have two bedrooms so we turned half of our room into baby's nursery. The color scheme is pink and gray (gray is my FAVORITE color!!) and it's easy to incorporate gray to the rest of the room since our bedding is white, which will make the whole room blend together. I'll post pictures of her half of our room later when we've got everything situated...we still haven't got her bassinet yet.
Going to sleep and waking up seeing her part of the room makes me soo excited!! I can't believe she'll be here next month!! And what's great about it is...
1. This pregnancy has been soo easy for me and it has gone by sooo fast, faster than when I was pregnant with Worthy and Waylon. I did have a few shortness of breath episodes but I can only remember having heartburn a couple times. I just barely started to have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. And the only time I have a little bit of trouble moving around is at night as I sleep when I turn on my other side, but it's not nearly as hard as when I was pregnant with the boys.
2. I've only gained 14 lbs!!! according to my last weigh in last week. But that doesn't mean I'm 14 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight...no. I'm 25 lbs away from THAT! And THAT doesn't mean I'm 25 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy SIZE. Who knows how many sizes away from THAT I am...nowadays I just wear sweatpants and basketball shorts.
3. Worthy is fully potty trained!! :) And I say fully because he doesn't even pee in his sleep anymore.
And 4. I'm so excited to have a DAUGHTER!! :) :)

So next week is Thanksgiving and that means I can put my Christmas tree up next weekend. Lol. I don't know what it is, but this year is the most I think I've ever been about the holidays...probably because I have a family of my own now and I love seeing the boys' reactions to the littlest things. If you've noticed, it really doesn't take much to make kids happy. It just lifts my heart everytime the boys get excited. So here we go. Bring on the rest of the year!!
